Fans of the 1993 fantasy comedy film ‘Hocus Pocus’ might already be aware of the impending release of the film’s sequel titled ‘Hocus Pocus 2’. In a recent development, Disney has announced that eleven new cast members will be joining the original trio of the three Sanderson sisters that was essayed by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy.
It was also revealed that ‘Hocus Pocus 2’ is set to release sometime on the Disney+ OTT platform in the second half of the year 2022. The Disney+ announcement also disclosed the sequel film’s logo through a short video.
The eleven actors who would join the film’s original cast are Whitney Peak (Gossip Girl, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Lilia Buckingham (Crown Lake, Zoe Valentine), Belissa Escobedo (The Baker and The Beauty), Doug Jones (Star Trek: Discovery), Tony Hale (Harley Quinn, Crossing Swords), Sam Richardson (The Tomorrow War, Werewolves Within), Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso, Sex Education), Juju Brener (Vanquish), Froy Gutierrez (Cruel Summer, Teen Wolf), Taylor Henderson (Earwig and the Witch), and Nina Kitchen (Acting Debut).
The upcoming sequel ‘Hocus Pocus 2’ is being helmed by Anne Fletcher, who had previously directed films such as ‘Hot Pursuit’ (2015), ‘The Proposal’ (2009), and more recently the 2018 Netflix film ‘Dumplin’. Earlier, filmmaker Adam Shankman (Director – A Walk to Remember, The Wedding Planner) was being considered to direct the ‘Hocus Pocus’ sequel but was later replaced by Anne Fletcher.
The first ‘Hocus Pocus’ film revolved around three witches named Winifred, Sarah, and Mary, who are inadvertently brought back by a teenage boy on a Halloween night 300 years after they were executed for the murder of a young girl.
