2021 will be a loaded year, in terms of content being released by Disney and specially fans for Marvel. The upcoming slate of Marvel movies and series has been released already, though some still have their dates to be confirmed but it’s more or less sure that these will be coming out in the next year. Along with the much anticipated series of WandaVision, Loki, Falcon and Winter Soldier, there is another superhero series that will be introduced. This will be directly in line with MCU, which means there are possibilities that these characters will further appear in MCU movies. The superhero we are talking about here is the teenager Ms. Marvel.
Ms. Marvel is rather a new addition to the Marvel Comics Universe and has been released fairly recently. Even though the addition is new, the comic has gone on to become quite a fan favourite amongst the comic readers and comic lovers. As the insiders from the Marvel industries say, the reason people are connecting more with her is because of the fact that she is a young teenager who, even though might be a superhero, is going through her normal teenage life issues.
Another big thing that has attracted people to the comics as well as the upcoming series is the fact that our latest superhero is a woman of color. She is known as Kamala Khan, a brown Pakistani American girl in origin coming all the way from New Jersey. She idolizes Carol Danvers and it has been announced that the series will lead into Ms. Marvel being introduced in the upcoming Captain Marvel 2 movie.
The Brown Asian representation is coming strong through this series as most of the members of the core team for the series is Asian Brown in origin. The show is created by Bisha K. Ali who also serves as the head writer. Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and Meera Menon are reportedly hired to direct episodes for the series. Kamala Khan co-creator Sana Amanat serves as the executive producer for the series. A historic moment was created in the world of Marvel as Iman Vellani, a Pakistani American was casted for the role of Kamala Khan. The show was earlier slated to be released by 2022 but seems like the work is going on in full swing and hence will be released by September 2021.
It is not only a moment to be proud but also a moment to be happy as a Marvel fan, because thankfully Marvel didn’t whitewash this character and went on full on ahead with the Brown representation.
