This afternoon, Disney Plus accidentally revealed the release date of its much-awaited Marvel series, ‘She-Hulk’. Neither Marvel nor Disney Plus has made any official announcement regarding the release date of She-Hulk. However, eagle-eyed readers chanced upon the unwittingly-revealed release date for She-Hulk on Disney’s official UK website. As per that site, She-Hulk will premiere on Disney Plus on August 17, 2022. She-Hulk will stream in India on Disney Plus Hotstar.
The new Marvel series promises to be one helluva fun ride, and quite different from the rest of the MCU’s Phase 4 series. For one, She-Hulk has a lot of comedy and humour in it, unlike the more grave Phase 4 series, and the distinctly dark MCU Phase 4 movies. Secondly, She-Hulk will have some bits of legal drama in it—besides the superhero stuff, of course. Jennifer Walters (She-Hulk’s alter ego) is a hotshot lawyer in her everyday life, so it’s a given.
As per the comics, She-Hulk is Jennifer Walters, Bruce Banner’s lawyer cousin, who gets Hulk-esque superpowers after she receives gamma radiation-infused blood from her superhero cousin. She-Hulk’s powers are slightly more controlled and less intense than The Hulk’s, which makes her a more controlled, more sophisticated version of the Hulk.
Tatiana Maslany plays the lead role as She-Hulk. Mark Ruffalo and Tim Roth reprise their roles as Bruce Banner and The Abomination, respectively, in the series. Ginger Gonzaga, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Jameela Jamil, Anais Almonte and Josh Segarra make up the rest of the cast.
There’s been a lot of speculation that Jim Carrey will enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe as super-villain MODOK; and his first appearance will be in She-Hulk. It remains to be seen whether this information turns out to be true or simply speculation.
