So, Disney Plus, the streaming service of cinema giant Disney Inc., sought to promote its three upcoming Marvel series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision and Loki. The 30-second teaser had fans going wild with excitement at the glimpses of their favourite superheroes.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is set in the time after the events of Avengers: Endgame, at the end of which Steve Rogers/Captain America had handed over his iconic shield to Falcon/Sam Wilson. The series picks up from there, throwing Falcon and Winter Soldier/Bucky Barnes into a showdown with Zemo. Yes, the villain that featured in Captain America: Civil War is back. Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan and Daniel Brühl reprise their roles of Falcon, Winter Soldier and Zemo from the previous MCU movies.
WandaVision shows Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff and Paul Bettany’s Vision in seeming domestic bliss. Various scenes in the teaser give hints to what may transpire in the Disney Plus series – their marriage, Wanda’s pregnancy, and them being parents to twin boys.
Loki received the lowest screen time, but was compelling enough to set tongues wagging. Apparently, he’s being held captive by the TVA, made obvious by the TVA logo emblazoned on the prison-uniform like jumpsuit he’s seen wearing in the teaser. The TVA is an organization charged with protecting the timeline of the Marvel Universe. Anyone who attempts to use time travel to alter either the past or future has to answer to the TVA. But Loki seems unperturbed. He says nonchalantly, “I’m gonna burn this place to the ground”. Tom Hiddleston is back as Loki in the highly anticipated series.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Wanda Vision are set for a 2020 release. Loki arrives on the streamer in 2021.
