A recent video from a Disney+ show is going viral on the internet. In the video, there are actors generated by AI in place of human beings, and it has instigated netizens to criticize the platform for this.
The short video has some players playing a match and a group of viewers cheering for them. There are merely two or three rows there and the entire second row is full of AI generated actors. Unfortunately, the allegations of AMPTP are proving to be true and already actors are getting replaced by AI characters.
This is a matter of huge concern for the whole industry. Even at such a primal stage, the technology is being used to replace actors, it can grow up to be a nightmare for the actors in near future. The platforms and studios also need to focus on the quality of the content they are producing. In the show, the claps of the AI characters are not even matching, they look terrible and anybody can point out that this is not a real human being. The role of extras in the industry is huge and they should not just get rid of them, now that something cheaper is available.
The extras come to industry with passion, with ambition. They want to be actors and filmmakers and the job of extras gives them the introduction to the industry. They meet like-minded people and collaborate for something extraordinary. The internet has pointed out that Matt Damon and Ben Affleck first worked as extras and it helped in both their careers.
The use of artificial intelligence must be restricted otherwise it will go bigger and bigger. It is a crisis for the whole industry, not only for a handful of actors.
