Deadpool 3 is indeed one of the most exciting projects set to be released next year. With Deadpool’s charisma, it will also feature a dose of nostalgia by including Wolverine. However, after the strike, the film’s release date has become somewhat unclear, and in a recent interview, the director, Shawn Levy, expressed his uncertainty about it.
During his latest interview, Levy mentioned that they have already finished shooting half of the film, and in terms of editing, half of the work is done.
However, these updates are somewhat contradictory. A few months ago, it was reported that the film was nearly completed in all senses. Even the progress of the film looks very unclear right now, and in terms of spoilers or plot reveals, that’s not a bad thing. But it’s Disney we are talking about, and we can’t eliminate the possibility of something sketchy going on, especially with news like Daredevil’s reshoots hitting the market.
Even before the strike began, the internet was buzzing with complaints against Disney, as they cheated not only writers but also fellow production houses. At the very end of last year, it also came to light that Disney had been shortchanging writers and other creatives in terms of payment, even in highly profitable franchises like Star Wars.
Shockingly, Disney also treated TSG Entertainment in a similar way by hiding their profits from their long-time financer.
Several of Marvel’s projects are also in disarray and facing a lot of disputes. It all began to unravel with Black Widow, where Disney used questionable tactics to pay artists less.
So, practically, what Disney caused is now coming back to haunt them.
Now, Levy didn’t specify a release window but mentioned that they are indeed targeting next year for the release. The previous date was May 3rd, 2024, but a couple of months ago, it was removed from the release calendar. According to new forecasts, at the earliest, it will hit theaters by the end of 2024.
One setback doesn’t mean a complete disaster, as Shawn Levy is part of something special. On Netflix, his series “All The Light We Cannot See” will be released on 2nd November, and it has a lot of potential.
