The Tamil film industry is on an all time high this season, with Sivakarthikeyan’s ‘Doctor’ becoming the first Indian movie to gross 100 crores post the second Covid wave. The festive period of Diwali too, has already begun on a high note with Suriya’s ‘Jai Bhim’ direct-to-OTT release on November 2. The film has garnered much attention and opened to rave reviews. Movie theatres are also doing great business after finally receiving the nod for full capacity in cinema halls. The two Diwali releases, Rajinikanth’s ‘Annaatthe’ and the Arya-Vishal starrer ‘Enemy’ are going strong, recording housefull shows all over the state.
As far as the OTT medium is concerned, the first half of November has some promising films lined up and incase you missed them in theatres, fret not, coz now you can catch them in the comfort of your home. Here’s putting together a list of all that’s streaming this November-
1. MGRMAGAN (Disney+Hotstar)
Written and directed by Ponram, this film stars actors Sasikumar, Samuthirakani, Sathyaraj and Mirnalini Ravi in the lead and is revolves around an estranged father-son duo, out to save a mountain in their village from the claws of shrewd businessmen. The film that had been lying on shelves for the longest time will finally see a direct-to-OTT release on November 4.
2. DOCTOR (Netflix, Sun Nxt)
Sivakarthikeyan‘s blockbuster is all set to stream from 5th November on Netflix and Sun Nxt, post the televised premiere at 6.30pm on SunTv on November 4. The bilingual crime comedy that deals with organ trafficking and kidnapping, has been widely appreciated and marks the actor’s debut into the 100 crore club.
3. MUGIZH (Netflix)
Vijay Sethupathi‘s upcoming film ‘Mugizh‘ marks the debut of his daughter Sreeja and stars Sethupathi himself with Regina Cassandra. Directed by debutant Karthik S, the children’s film revolves around a father-daughter relationship, post the accidental death of their pet. The simple and touching slice-of-life film drops on November 7.
4. ARANMANAI 3 (Zee5)
The popular horror comedy franchise that released in theatres for Dussehra, had a good run in theatres and now hits the OTT platform on November 12. Written and directed by Sundar C, the third installment of the franchise features a huge ensemble cast with Arya, Raashi Khanna and Andrea Jeremiah in the lead.
5. SIVAKUMARIN SABATHAM (Disney+Hotstar)
Written, directed by and starring Hiphop Tamizha Adhi, the comedy film saw a theatrical release on 30th September, but didn’t do well at the box office, due to which his next film ‘Anbarivu’ will get a direct-to-OTT release on Hotstar. Also starring Madhuri Jain, ‘Sivakumarin Sabatham’s OTT release date has not been finalized yet, but it is most likely to premiere around Nov 12.
6. RUDRA THANDAVAM (Simply South)
Written, directed and produced by Mohan G, the film stars Richard Rishi, Gautham Vasudev Menon and Dharsha Gupta in the lead. The action drama with a cop-battling-drug-mafia plotline, had a decent run in theatres and is looking at a Diwali OTT premiere on Simply South on Nov 4. Although no official announcement has been made, one is expected soon.
