The concept which may be quoted as “The demand for your performance is your market value” is an all-time truth to the living reality. The film industry is an example. And actors are responsible for its primary source of visualization. Their capability of negotiating emotions on the screen should be able to captivate the audience irrespective of their language and race. Even though this is not a novel matter to talk about now, the space for the Malayalam film industry is small, but the richness in its aesthetics and the impeccable talent of performers cannot fade. This is a proven fact by the amusement and responses of its ally industries. Such that, Binged would like to describe the actors’ migration into other regions for expected and popular films, conceived in small and big budgets as well as the success and failure of the efforts for the year 2024 and its upcoming days.
The year started with actor Mammooty featuring in ‘Yatra 2’, a Telugu political fictional flick in which he reprises the character of Y.S Rajasekhar Reddy alongside actor Jiiva. This is a sequel to its first installment named ‘YSR’s Yatra’. Despite having the first part which received good critical acclaim, this part was not even reachable with its first one. A negative to average range of responses was received even though the former actor was the movie’s unique selling point. Another Telugu movie named ‘Tillu Square’, a genre of romantic crime comedy in nature which featured actor Anupama Parameswaran as its female lead received above-average critical acclaim and hence declared the movie to be a super hit for the region. When it comes to the Tamil movies list, a movie like ‘Mission: Chapter 1’, directed by A.L Vijay and featuring actor Nimisha Sajayan was a below-average to average experience from the performance side. Her previous effort for a movie like ‘Chittha’ in 2023 was exemplary and relevant which made an impression of its demerit. The same was the situation for actor Aishwarya Lakshmi’s part in ‘Pon Ondru Kanden’ directed by V. Priya, and Mamitha Baiju in ‘Rebel’ directed by Nikesh R S. However, a praiseworthy feat was rewarded to actors Unni Mukundan for ‘Garudan’ directed by R.S Duraikumar, Aparna Balamurali for ‘Raayan’ directed by Dhanush and Parvathi Thiruvoth for ‘Thangalaan’ directed by Pa. Ranjith respectively. Actor Mamta Mohandas has decency in her role for the required level of importance in the action-thriller flick named ‘Maharaja’ directed by Nithilian Swaminathan.
Also, actors ‘Anna Ben’ and ‘Nikhila Vimal’ are appreciated for their prevalent presence in recently running movies named ‘Kottukali’ directed by P.S Vinothraj and ‘Vaazhai’ directed by Mari Selvaraj. Ben’s performance as Kyra in ‘Kalki:2898 A.D’ directed by Nag Ashwin was also notable. When coming to Kannada film, actor Bhavana has given her best, brave, and convincing attempt for a movie named ‘Case of Kondana’ directed by Devi Prasad Shetty. Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran has given his fourth Bollywood presence for ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ directed by Ali Abbas Zafar which was a total box-office disaster. This is also the second movie that the actor has collaborated with actor Akshay Kumar.
Ultimately, hope is the solution for everything. Expecting power-packed performances of actors for upcoming movies like Manju Warrier in ‘Vettaiyan’ directed by T.J Gnanavel and ‘Viduthalai: Part 2’ directed by Vetrimaran, Fahad Faasil for ‘Pushpa the Rule’ directed by Sukumar and ‘Vettaiyan’, Soubin Shahir for ‘Coolie’ directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj as well as Dulquer Salmaan for ‘Lucky Bashkar’ directed by Venky Alluri respectively.
