Srijit Mukherjee is definitely one of the names in the Bengali film industry who contributed a great deal in blurring the art films and commercial films. His debut film ‘Autograph’ is definitely a masterpiece and should not go unnoticed. The film is available to watch On Hoichoi.
‘Autograph‘ tells the story of a young director who wants to remake the cult classic ‘Nayak’ by Satyajit Ray. There is only one suitable star for the movie: Arun. Arun agrees to finance the movie too. The director introduces him to Shrin, the potential actress opposite him in the movie. Shrin gets too friendly with Arun and he confesses many incidents from his past to Shrin. Shrin records the talks and shows them to the director. He makes the tapes public for the promotion of the movie and Arun gets offended. The story goes on and engages you and does not let you be distracted.
Autograph has wonderful music from debutant composer Anupam Roy. The cinematography is handled by Soumik Haldar. And it could not have been directed by anyone else than Srijit.
The cast includes actors like Prosenjit Chatterjee, Nandana Sen, Indraneil Sengupta, Rudraprasad Sengupta, Biswajit Chakraborty, Pijush Ganguly, Dwijen Bandopadhyay and more. There could have been no better actor than Prasenjit To portray the new age superstar after Uttam Kumar in ‘Nayak’. And you would know Nandana Sen from her graceful performance in ‘Rang Rasiya’.
