Every year multiple movies come and go, some catch our attention and some are just not worth it. But there are also some amongst these plethora of releases that often go unnoticed but definitely deserve more recognition.
One such film that came out in 2024 is Malayalam science fiction mockumentary film ‘Gaganachari’ which had a limited theatrical release but is currently streaming on Prime Video.
‘Gaganachari’ is set in a dystopian future where three bachelors live in an apocalypse bunker. Their routine is disrupted when a visitor from a distant planet arrives, turning their lives upside down. The arrival of this visitor not only leads to humorous but also thought provoking situations
The film offers a rare blend of science fiction and cultural commentary while exploring themes of bias, love, superstition and the unknown, told through comical moments and the unique perspectives of the characters. In a very smart manner the film also talks about identity and belonging.
Directed by Arun Chandu who has co-written the film with Siva Sai, ‘Gaganachari’ stars K. B. Ganesh Kumar, Gokul Suresh, Aju Varghese and Anarkali Marikar in prominent roles.
‘Gaganachari’ is a fun filled sci-fi film that you will thoroughly enjoy and if you know how well Malayalam cinema is made you know you cannot miss this one on Prime Video.
