Are you looking for a nice feel good movie to watch for the weekend? Here is a recommendation for you.
‘Dhanak‘ had its theatrical release in 2015 and had a warm response from critics and audiences. It is written and directed by Nagesh Kukunoor and has child actors Hetal Gada and Krrish Chhabria in leading roles. Dhanak got many awards and titles for its beautiful storytelling but it still remains an underrated gem and is not celebrated the way it should be. The movie is available on Netflix.
Dhanak tells the story of two siblings in a little village of Rajasthan. Chhotu, a blind boy, is helped by his elder sister in studies and everyday activities. They are best of friends and the sister wants her brother’s eyes to be operated on so that he can see again. But they don’t have parents and live with a very rude and hostile aunt. The uncle wants his nephew to see again but is dominated by the unwilling aunt.
There are great references to pop culture and Bollywood many times and the main characters are avid film lovers. The sister writes a letter to Shah Rukh Khan to help her brother. You will have to watch the movie to know what happens to the kids in the end. It is a heartwarming story with Marvelous music. The music is composed by Tapas Relia. With wonderful imagery of the deserts of Rajasthan, Dhanak also offers beautiful cinematography. The cinematography is handled by Chirantan Das.
The movie is available to watch on Netflix. There is no nudity or profanity in it and you can watch it with your friends and family this weekend.
