Sivakarthikeyan starrer ‘Doctor‘ has beaten all records to emerge as what we can call the first Kollywood blockbuster post the second Covid wave. The film currently unstoppable at the box office may well go on to become the first 100 crore grosser post the second Covid wave, having already grossed 90 crores in its 16 day theatrical run so far. ‘Doctor’ is expected to be as much of an OTT success as a theatrical one. Read on to know the film’s digital release date and the platform that’s bagged the deal.
The bilingual ‘Doctor’, that deals with organ trafficking and kidnapping, has been widely appreciated and continues to enjoy a great run at the box office. The film’s digital rights have been acquired by Sun Nxt and Netflix. ‘Doctor’ is expected to have a televised premiere on SunTv on 4th November, on the occasion of Diwali, post which it will stream on Sun Nxt and Netflix from 5th November. Although no official announcement by the makers has been made, one is expected soon.
The chosen date is indeed a fine one, being a festive occasion and giving the film just enough time to touch 100 crores, a target that’s most likely, just days away. At this rate, ‘Doctor’ will be the first film to cross the 100 crore mark post the second Covid wave. With cinema theatres still recording housefull shows, ‘Doctor’ has managed to achieve the unthinkable and has proved to be actor Sivakarthikeyan’s most successful and highest grossing film yet. It’ll be interesting to see how soon this 100 crore mark is achieved. Stay tuned to Binged for more updates!
