Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s (or MCU for short) next project, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, is getting ready to release in theatres in just a few months. The highly anticipated superhero movie has been making a lot of buzz for a long time, partly due to the success of Spider-Man: No Way Home and partly due to the near-weekly teaser and promo releases in the past few weeks. However, during this excitement, many seem to have forgotten an important detail about this upcoming Doctor Strange feature film – the fact that this movie will also act as a sequel to an MCU web series, WandaVision. In fact, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be the first MCU movie to do so.
Actually, from what we can understand, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will act as a sequel to three MCU projects – 2 movies and 1 TV show; again, this has never happened before, in MCU history. 2016’s Doctor Strange is obviously the main prequel of this upcoming film, but the movie will also act as the sequel to the recently released Spider-Man: No Way Home and the aforementioned web series, WandaVision as well. This is just as exciting as the introduction/speculation of the Illuminati, Deadpool, X-Men or even the Fantastic Four making an appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness – because now it is actually official that all MCU projects are linked.
Also, there is a good chance that this film will also act as a spin-off or even a part-sequel for two more MCU web series. We are, of course, talking about the animated anthology series, What If…? and the brilliant Loki TV show. In the trailer, we see zombie Wanda, from one of the episodes of the anthology series, while the different variant of Doctor Strange is a reference to Loki. We will need more information to know if these shows are only just referenced or will play a major part in the movie – but we will likely need to wait for the movie to drop before we can get any more information.
