As per media reports, there will soon be a spin-off of the famous ‘Doctor Who’ series. And it will be revolving around the character of Kate Stewart. Russell T. Davies, the showrunner of Doctor Who expresses that one of the episodes is the best thing that he has done in his lifetime.
Russell T. Davies is showrunning Doctor Who for the second time and he has made a deal with Disney+ for the international distribution of the show. Actress Jemma Redgrave has played the role of Kate Stewart in 10 episodes since 2012. Kate Stewart runs the organization of UNIT and the spin-off will tell the story of her days in the UNIT and as the chief scientific officer of the organization. She has been a recurring character in the various seasons of Doctor Who.
Davies has been very much interested in extending the ‘Whoniverse’ and is taking many steps to extend the story with many spin-offs. Kate Stewart is going to appear in the Christmas special episode of the show. The new Doctor played by Ncuti Gawa will be seen in that episode and David Tennant and Catherine Tate will also be returning in their roles.
The budget of the 15th season of Doctor Who has been increased and Disney+ will stream the show outside UK and Ireland. There are already spin-offs like ‘Torchwood’, ‘Doctor Who Extra’, ‘The Sarah Jane Adventures’ that took the story further. Now, fans are excited that the story of UNIT will be extended. Actors that play Doctor Who too will return along with other characters and hopefully Kate Stewart’s story is going to be a banger.
