Why is that a few of our well known stars’ movie or show sometimes fails to win over their audience? Starting from the latest release of Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khuranna’s ‘Gulabo Sitabo’ on Amazon Prime Video, this direct release on OTT expected far more views than its actual figures. Of course this movie did not suffer any losses but it’s performance was not upto the mark. Needless to say, these actors’ other movies at cinema have always been a huge success.
The next is one of the most versatile and promising actors, Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s ‘Ghoomketu’ on ZEE5. It has left the viewers highly disappointed and dissatisfied. Some reviewers say that the jokes are not funny and the storyline was lousy. We have all witnessed his other projects go sky high!
Jacques Fernandez and Manoj Bajpai’s ‘Mrs Serial Killer‘ on Netflix marked another unsuccessful direct OTT release. Some felt the story was predictable while others felt it didn’t do justice to the term psychological crime thriller.
Apart from this, some web series like Sushmita Sen’s ‘Aarya’ on Hotstar did comparatively better with good ratings and audience’s appreciation. This crime drama released its first season in June 2020. In addition to this, ‘Sacred Games’ on Netflix made it to everybody’s watchlist and left the audience wanting for more. We now wait for Vidya Balan and Sanya Malhotra’s Amazon Prime Video release ‘Shankuntala Devi’ based on the story of a well known mathematician. Only time will tell if its a success or flop on OTT but we only hope for the best!
