The sequel to the 2016 home invasion survival horror-thriller film ‘Don’t Breathe’ is geared up to soon hit the big screens. The director of the sequel titled ‘Don’t Breathe 2’ has already hinted (via ComicBook) on the possibility of a third installment of the film.
In a recently held interview with directors of the first and the second films Fede Alvarez and Rodo Sayagues, respectively, the latter had not only teased another sequel’s potential but also talked about the possibility of reviving a major character from the original movie. Regarding an idea of the third installment, Sayagues had stated that:
“I think stories are never wrapped. If something is true about the first movie, is that there’s no closure on both ends. There was no closure for the story of Norman [Stephen Lang] and there’s no closure for the story of Rocky [Jane Levy], they both got away with a crime, both of them. Because Rocky stole a lot of money.”
For the unversed, the first ‘Don’t Breathe’ film followed a trio of three thieves namely Rocky, Alex, and Money, who break into the house of a blind war veteran Norman Nordstrom after getting a tip of a huge amount of cash under his possession. However, eventually, they are caught in a sadistic game of cat and mouse while trapped in the seemingly innocent man’s house.
Rocky’s character was portrayed as the first film’s protagonist. While in ‘Don’t Breathe 2’, the tables have somehow turned as the blind man is apparently the film’s hero in the forthcoming sequel. Although Rocky’s character won’t feature in this sequel.
Rocky’s character was essayed by Jane Levy, whose performance in the first film was unanimously praised. So, the idea to bring her character back, in order to move forward with the ‘Don’t Breathe’ franchise, seems to be rational, both creatively and financially.
