Starring Andrea Risbeborough in the titular role, the film follows a West Texas single mother and alcoholic who squanders all the prize money she got after winning the lottery to parties and alcohol. But a few short years later when the money is gone and Leslie is on her owns living hard, she tries to reclaim her life and connection with her son.
‘To Leslie’ received widespread critical acclaim especially for Riseborough’s spectacular performance which is touted to be one of the greatest portrayals of alcoholism. As for the film, the critics have called it to be a deceptively simple yet heart wrenching character study that feels like a punch in your gut.
