We can say without a speck of doubt that Steven Spielberg‘s name counts in the list of the greatest filmmakers of all times. He is the master of the craft and has fans all over the world. But there are some movies that are lesser known and deserve much more attention than they get.
‘The Post’ is one such film. It can be called a political thriller or a historical drama. The Post has the giants, Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep in the lead roles and actors like Sarah Paulson, Bob Odenkirk, Tracy Letts, Bradley Whitford, Bruce Greenwood and Matthew Rhys play other important roles.
The Post tells the true story of journalists from ‘The Washington Post’ who attempted to publish the ‘Pentagon Papers’, official and sensitive documents about the United States and the Vietnam War and also the French Indochina war of the 40s. Katharine, a young journalist played by Meryl, and her editor Ben, played by Tom Hanks, put their careers and lives at risk and take up the job of making a huge scandal public but it is not going to be easy for them. To know what happened in the end and where the story ended up, you will have to watch The Post.
The movie came out in 2017 and had a decent success. The cinematography of the movie was handled by Janusz Kamiński and the music was composed by John Williams. If you are a fan of Spielberg’s filmography, you should not miss this gem. ‘The Post’ is available to watch on SonyLIV.
