Drashti Dhami: A Force To Be Reckoned With In Disney+ Hotstar’s “The Empire”

Drashti Dhami: A Force To Be Reckoned With In Disney+ Hotstar’s “The Empire”

Disney+ Hotstar today dropped the grand trailer for their upcoming Hotstar special “The Empire”. Watching that trailer, we have only one word to say- “Epic”. The show definitely will be the next epic one coming from Hotstar, and we are ready for it. The series stars some big names Kunal Kapoor, Dino Morea and Shabana Azmi, but amongst them is one star that a certain section of audience is dying to witness. We are talking about none other than Drashti Dhami and with the role she has, we already know how great “The Empire”.

The Empire definitely stars some big names of the screen like Shabana Azmi, Kunal Kapoor and Dino Morea. They are the big players in the game, and then we have Drashti Dhami. Well, she might not have starred in big films or even for the matter an web-series, but she is no less than any star in the series. She has been a known household name for years. She has had a super successful career in TV and she is now one of the top female actresses in TV. She has been great in every daily soap she starred in and all of those became some of the biggest hits.

Now, coming to “The Empire”, Drashti Dhami essays the role of “Khanzada Begum”, who is known as the elder sister of Babur, and of the most important person in Babur’s life. Khanzada Begum has been mentioned several times in Babur’s autobiography, “Baburnama”. Just like how she essayed an important role in his life, Drashti Dhami too will be essaying a role of great importance, in the series. As seen in the trailer, Shaibani Khan is the one who is up against Babur to take over Samarkand, but along with that, Shaibani Khan needs Khanzada Begum too. This isn’t something Babur wants and from this begins the real war.

This war is what eventually leads to take over the Lodhi Dynasty and establish one of the most famous empires in the entire world- The Mughal Empire. Now, as we went through how important Drashti Dhami’s role is, we can also understand how she should be the center piece in this series along with Babur’s character. Web-series have a habit of focusing only on the main characters of the war and we hope that Khanzada Begum gets enough of her much needed screentime.

This is Drashti Dhami’s digital debut and coming from an area of acting where she had to express a myriad of expressions, those techniques will definitely come in handy for “The Empire” and her role. The Empire is definitely a treat for Drashti Dhami’s as she will be seen in a never before seen avatar. She isn’t just a princess or Babur’s elder sister, she is more than that, she is a warrior in herself and we very much hope that Khanzada Begum’s role is fully utilized.

The Empire drops on Disney+ Hotstar, on the 27th of August. For further updates on the show, keep an eye out for Binged.com
