‘Drishyam 2‘ is undoubtedly a potential hit on OTT. It has a strong presence on the internet and fans are excited for the digital premiere of the movie.
Drishyam 2 is going to premiere on Amazon Prime Video and ‘Drishyam’, the first film of the duology, is trending in the top 10 watches of Disney+Hotstar. It is also trending on Netflix India and also tops the list of the top searched on Netflix India. Drishyam 2 released in the theaters on the 18th of November, the OTT premiere will be after the 8 week window. Fans are excited, and as the first film is trending so high it is needless to say that the sequel will be a huge hit on OTT too.
Drishyam was a tremendous success and Drishyam 2 starring Mohanlal was successful too. The Hindi adaptation of the movie starring Ajay Devgn that released in 2015 had created a quite heavy fanbase of the franchise. Jeethu Joseph had done a tremendous job with the Malayalam duology and there is a probability of a third installment of the series. Drishyam 2 is directed by Abhishek Pathak.
Despite remakes not working too well in Bollywood, the success of Drishyam 2 is quite convincing. Even wonderful films like ‘Vikram Vedha’ did not work too well in the theaters for being a remake. Drishyam 2 took a unique strategy of not making the Hindi audio dubbed version of the original Malayalam film available to the audiences. There was suspense and most people went to the theaters without watching Jeethu Joseph’s Drishyam sequel.
