Right now, we are definitely talking about the first blockbuster of the year, so we must be respectful, hailing, and worshipping. Dune has arrived at the box office, and we must appreciate the talk of the town and present the preview numbers.
According to predictions, Dune 2 is expected to open with ginormous statistics, with $70M-$80M projected. However, it’s the preview numbers that are currently being discussed. In comparison, the first part of Dune grossed $41M in its opening weekend.
Some official reports state that Denis Villeneuve‘s “Dune: Part Two” arrived at the box office with $12M in previews. This number is twice as big as the initial installment of the film, which earned $5.1M.
Now, the stat is far from reaching the pinnacle when it comes to preview box-office earnings. Twilight holds the record for the saga, grossing $30.1M, followed by Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, which managed to gross $22M.
Regarding the general reaction, people are somewhat disappointed by the number. Although it is definitely a significant statistic, it will help it rank in the top 6 of the list. Fans wished for something more.
But even if the box-office preview somewhat underwhelms the fans, Dune’s hype can’t be neglected, especially considering that it will rule the box office for weeks to come. And it isn’t just a box office hit; aspects like critical reviews and fan reactions prove that blockbuster status is written all over Dune.
