Regardless of how “Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves” performed at the box office, the movie adaptation from Paramount was well-received by fans and critics both. The film underperformed financially, earning only $208 million against a mammoth budget of $150 million. However, it received an outstanding response from viewers and critics, who rated the film “fresh” with a score of 91% on Rotten Tomatoes (based on 310 reviews). So, what will happen to Dungeons & Dragons 2?
Many had high hopes for a sequel to “Honor Among Thieves”, but it seems like their hopes have been buried for good. Paramount recently announced that the live-action Dungeons & Dragons TV series would not be moving forward. The production house ordered the highly-anticipated Paramount+ series in January 2023. Fans of the franchise praised the studio’s decision to greenlight the series. This would have enabled viewers to spend more time in the world of “Dungeons & Dragons” apart from the 2023 movie. However, it seems like the studio has no faith in the franchise now.
Paramount’s decision to stop the development of the TV series casts doubts on the odds of Dungeons & Dragons 2. It is possible that the production house may cancel the sequel in the near future. Although, the first film has done well via Paramount+ and VOD. But this does not guarantee the sequel’s arrival in theatres.
Dungeons & Dragons 2 has not been announced yet by Paramount. But it could happen if it gets made on a budget less than the first film’s. Let’s see what happens.
Dungeos & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves starred Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Rege-Jean Page, Justice Smith, Hugh Grant, and Sophia Lillis. Stream it on Prime Video.
