Axel Foley is back with a bang! Eddie Murphy’s ‘Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F’ has destroyed its competitors on Netflix’s streaming charts, earning a massive debut in terms of viewership. ‘Axel F’ serves as the fourth entry to the hit Beverly Hills Cop franchise, which opened with the first movie in 1984. The film takes place nearly thirty years after the events of its infamous 1994 predecessor. Apart from Murphy, the fourth movie’s cast is packed with talents such as Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Judge Reinhold, Taylour Paige, John Ashton, Paul Reiser, Bronson Pinchot, and Kevin Bacon.
On Netflix, Axel F amassed over 41 million views and collected over 80.7 million viewing hours, dethroning Zac Efron and Nicole Kidman’s A Family Affair (31.9 million views) from the top spot. Jessica Alba’s Trigger Warning (8 million views) has been pushed back to the third position.
The latest Eddie Murphy starrer also performed well on the streaming charts of Netflix India, claiming the fifth spot behind Maharaj, Srikanth, A Family Affair, and Bhaje Vaayu Vegam.
It seems like Eddie Murphy’s career has found a new life. Apart from Axel F’s massive streaming success, the veteran actor will also voice Donkey in DreamWorks’ Shrek 5, scheduled to hit theatres globally on July 1, 2026.
