Emily in Paris fame Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu has been cast in the fifth season of The Crown. She joins Imelda Staunton who takes over from Olivia Colman as the Queen, Dominic West as Prince Charles, Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana, Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip and Jonny Lee Miller as British Prime Minister John Major.
Leroy-Beaulieu received raving reviews for her role of ‘Sylvie Grateau’, the marketing boss who’s frequently at loggerheads with young marketing executive Emily Cooper played by Lily Collins in ” Emily in Paris “. And now the French actress is all set to make a splashing turn in the British Royal drama. Leroy-Beaulieu also played Catherine Barneville in the Netflix series Call My Agent! previously.
The Crown’s next season focuses on the events of 1990s, that circled around the Collapsing marriages of the Queen’s three children (out of the four) and even the Windsor Castle fire, the Queen’s weekend residence.
It is reported that the French actress plays Monique Ritz, widow of Charles Ritz who sold his family’s Paris hotel to Mohamed Al Fayed. Diana, Princess of Wales and Dodi Fayed, Mohamed’s son, spent their final evening at this hotel before the unfortunate car crash that killed them. The untimely demise of Princess Diana unboxed a can of worms and conspiracy theories thereby testing the public’s faith in the monarch.
The fifth season is slated for a November,2022 release with an exact date not revealed. Stay tuned for more updates.
