The much-awaited 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards were held today at the L.A. Live entertainment complex in Los Angeles. The Emmy Awards 2021 were hosted by Cedric the Entertainer, his first time of hosting the Emmys.
It was a clean sweep for Netflix’s ‘The Crown’ in the Emmys for drama series. The series on the British royal family nabbed all the awards in the drama series category. Apple TV Plus’ ‘Ted Lasso’ and HBO Max‘s ‘Hacks’ divided the Emmys for comedy series between them, while HBO’s ‘Mare Of Easttown’ and Netflix’s ‘The Queen’s Gambit’ shared the honours for limited series.
Overall, ‘The Crown’ won 11 Emmys in total, tying with ‘The Queen’s Gambit’ for the most wins for an individual program for the year. Netflix, at 44 Emmys, was the leader of the pack. Its domination at the Emmys 2021 can be gauged with the fact that it won more than double the number of Emmys won by HBO & HBO Max, the next highest award winners at 19 Emmys.
