The Tamil film industry is looking at redemption with Sankranthi Releases – Vijay’s Master and Simbu’s Eswaran. Both the movies have lost Malaysia release – their biggest market outside India. At this juncture, the makers of Eswaran have taken a crucial decision.

They have decided to release the movie via pay-per-view on an OTT platform, OlyFlix on the same day. The overseas audience who can not watch the movies in theaters due to COVID-19 restrictions can use this facility. However, this will carry a risk of piracy for the theatrical business in lower-class theaters.

Indian Cinema’s theatrical business is looking rosy after a Telugu movie, Krack has got a tremendous response at the box office. But then, there is no sight of normalcy when it comes to the Overseas as Coronavirus cases are high in several countries. Overseas business is too big to ignore and the filmmakers are vying the option of a simultaneous OTT release to compensate for the loss.
