London-born actor Kit Harington had garnered international fame after his portrayal as Jon Snow – one of the lead characters of the cult period fantasy series ‘Game of Thrones’. He was last seen in the star-studded Marvel superhero movie ‘Eternals’, which is now streaming in India on the Disney+ Hotstar OTT platform.
For fans of the actor who longed to see more of Kit Harington’s Dane Whitman, who played Sersi’s human love interest in ‘Eternals’, here is an exciting update for the seemingly unimportant character’s future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
(Spoilers ahead) Eternals VFX Supervisor Stephan Ceretti had remarked about the special effects related to the Ebony Blade sword that was revealed in ‘Eternals’ final post-credits scene. It featured Kit Harington’s character opening a mysterious box containing the Ebony Blade with Mahershala Ali’s voice as Blade in the background. The scene alluded to the possibility of Kit Harington’s Dane Whitman taking on the mantle of The Black Knight in a future MCU project. (Spoiler end)
Regarding the Ebony Blade sword, the VFX Supervisor had confirmed (via comicbook.com) that the sword would have a greater role to play in the upcoming Blade movie, thereby indicating a fairly high probability of inclusion of Kit Harington’s Dane Whiteman as the Black Knight in Blade.
Dane Whitman aka Black Knight is a Marvel superhero character who wields the mystical Black Knight sword which he had inherited from his supervillain uncle Nathan Garrett, a Black Knight descendant.
For the unversed, ‘Blade’ is an upcoming movie featuring two times Academy Award-winning actor Mahershala Ali (Moonlight, Green Book), who will essay the titular role of the vampire hunter, originally portrayed by Wesley Snipes in the Blade films trilogy (1998-2004). Stay tuned to Binged for the latest updates on Kit Harington’s Dane Whiteman as the Black Knight in the upcoming Blade movie.
