After her big break in HBO’s “The White Lotus” and “Euphoria”, Sydney Sweeney aka Internet’s meme-favourite is now ready to take a giant leap into Marvel. Yes! She has joined Dakota Johnson in Sony Pictures’ Marvel epic ” Madame Web “.
Penned by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, Madame Web is to be directed by S.J. Clarkson. Madame Web is shown as an elderly woman with myasthenia gravis connected to life-support akin to a spider-web. Her age and health conditions is the reason she never actively fought villains. Hence, sources claim that the film is going to really be out-of-the-box with her psychic sensory powers making her Sony’s version of “Doctor Strange”. However there are no details on who Sydney Sweeney is playing.
With “Spider-Man : No Way Home” being the biggest film of 2021 clocking around $1.9 billion box office returns and “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” grossing over $500 million worldwide, Sony has definitely been pulling the right strings.
Sweeney recently made a splash in a star-making turn in Euphoria, which according to HBO is the network’s second most-viewed show after Game of Thrones. Quite obvious that the rising star has quickly found a spot in all major studio listings. “Madame Web” is also the universe’ first female centric film which makes the offer even more exciting. Besides The White Lotus and Euphoria, Sweeney has also starred in Amazon’s “The Voyeurs” and Blumhouse’s “Nocturne”. Tony Host’s ” National Anthem” is her next project on the film side. We can’t wait for more details on Internet’s darling’s role in the film. Stay tuned.
