Everyone knows that JioCinema is getting ready for a big merger. It will come together with Disney+Hotstar and create a giant entity which will certainly dominate the Indian media industry.
Well, this merger has not even taken place as of this moment. But, the disruption of the Indian OTT industry has already started.
How come?
Vivek Srivastava, who was heading growth and business operations at Amazon Prime Video India, will take over as executive vice president and business head for JioCinema Hindi. This is not that great of a deal if you look per se as many such people keep switching companies to get better promotions and pay.
However, the old employees bring experiences, vulnerabilities, and work culture that can be used to develop better strategies to help JioCinema. These things have already started and more importantly from Prime Video which will be the biggest competitor of the merged entity.
This step is just a reflection of the larger thing that is going on in the industry. The disruption has already started and JioCinema is looking very confident that things will work out in their favour from all the official procedures.
