Directed by Niki Caro, Disney’s Mulan premieres tomorrow on a new streaming category created by Disney Plus, called ‘Premier Access’. Viewers can watch it for $30 on top of the channel’s $7 monthly fee.
Decider’s Anna Menta has called it “an epic, breathtaking adventure that more than justifies its existence”.
“Unlike some films that have moved to streaming amid the pandemic, Mulan screams “theatrical” in every frame. It is epic, it is breathtaking, it is grand, and it is a true loss that circumstances have forced it to the small screen,” she adds.
Entertainment Weekly’s Leah Greenblatt writes,” Mulan might be the closest thing to a true old-fashioned theater-going experience the end of this strange summer will see”.
Comic Book writes, “Disney’s latest remake is a delight from top to bottom, setting itself apart from its predecessor. Calling it “Disney’s best live-action remake,” they add that it is a martial arts spectacle.
Forbes’ Scott Mendelson calls it a “lavish and handsomely-staged remake”.
Going by the reviews, Disney‘s live action Mulan seems like a must watch. Now, if only December 4th came around sooner rather than later. That’s the date when Mulan will stream free for all subscribers on Disney Plus globally, and on Disney Plus Hotstar in India.
