ManoramaMAX’s upcoming Malayalam thriller film ‘Eighteen hours’ will be releasing tomorrow, 1st August 2021, on said OTT platform. The Rajesh Nair directed and produced film movie was expected to get a theatrical release, but similar to the issues of many recent films, the theatrical route has been difficult sure to the second wave of the coronavirus. Rajesh Nair, however, has no complaints regarding the OTT release (as far as we know) and only wants his film available for viewing as soon as possible. So before the movie drops within the next 24 hours, here’s everything you need to know:
A Change In “Direction”
Unlike his previous ventures, ‘Eighteen Hours‘ will be the first “chase thriller” that Rajesh Nair will be directing. In fact, if you look at his previous films – ‘Salt Mango Tree’, ‘Annum Innum Ennum’ and ‘Thrissur Pooram’ – the director-producer rarely revisits a film genre. His movies have been okay so far, but there has been no standout feature from him just yet. Hopefully, this is the one (the standout) we have been waiting for.
Multiple Female-Led Cast
The film will focus on 6 young women actresses who will portray 12th graders. According to the official trailer, these half-a-dozen high schoolers are being chased by a group of highly trained criminals who plan to use them as hostages to slow down the cops who have been chasing them. So, as this suggests, the film will be primarily centred around these 6 female actors and we wish the young actresses luck.
Cross-Platform Premiere
As we mentioned earlier, this movie will be premiering on a local OTT platform, ManoramaMAX, tomorrow. However, for those who do not have a subscription on the streaming platform, the movie will also premiere on the parent TV channel of the same OTT platform, Mazhavil Manorama, during the same time.
A Film Created By The Pandemic
This movie was not meant to happen anytime soon. Rajesh Nair who had been working on another film, almost a year ago; was forced to wait till the pandemic went down. Because of that, the director decided to go to a script he had been working on previously – this very film, ‘Eighteen Hours’. Eventually, after the lockdown was lifted and with Covid-19 restrictions, the director and his team managed to film his movie in under a month. The rest was all done in post-production.
