Instagraamam, the Malayalam web-series is finally coming to Nee Stream. The web-series is slated to release in February but the date hasn’t been declared as of now. “Instagraamam”, which had its teaser released back in July itself was looking for OTT platforms, even after approaching the platforms for streaming the web-series, all seemed to refuse it. The same was the case with the critically acclaimed Malayalam movie, “The Great Indian Kitchen”.
For a long time Instagraamam was looking for an OTT platform to pick up the series. Even after approaching these platforms, many refused to stream it, stating the fact that there aren’t many viewers for Malayalam content. The OTT platforms only go forward if the content is Tamil or Telugu when it is from the south. Apparently that has a much bigger market than the Malayalam films industry.
We already in our past articles reported this attitude of OTT platforms (read here) towards one of the most prominent film industries of India. The OTT platforms could have redeemed themselves with the release of Instagraamam, but they chose not to. With the emergence of Nee Stream and their interest in bringing the Malayalam content to the forefront, it will act as a boon for the industry in attracting more viewers.
The web-series is based around the life of people in a fictitious village called Andiparra. The web-series focuses o n the lives, the people and the humour that goes around. According to the web-series one special quality that everyone has in Andiparra, is that all of them have the instant ability to come back with humour. This is what makes Andiparra so special, and keeping this is mind, “Instagraamam” is a complete laugh riot.
The series is created by the Malayalam filmmaker Mridul Nair and produced by Dr. Leela S. The web-series includes a huge ensemble cast that has names like Deepak Parambol, Ganapathy Alencier, Aditi Ravi, Sunny Wayne, Saniya Iyappan and many others.
