Netflix is all set to add another Korean drama in its kitty and this time it’s a sitcom named ‘So Not Worth It’. The streaming giant confirmed the production of the new original series in association with top acclaimed Korean creators, Kwon Ik-Joon (Three Guys And Three Girls, Nonstop) and Kim Jung-sik (Smashing on Your Back, High Kick).
‘So Not Worth It’ on Netflix will follow “youthful adventures of students with multicultural backgrounds who live in a college dorm.” The screenplay for the show has been written by Seo Eun-jung (Soonpoong Clinic, New Nonstop) and Baik Ji-hyun (Nonstop, Rude Miss Young-Ae).
Netflix also announced the cast for the Korean sitcom. Park Se-wan (Just Dance, School 2017 and Never Twice) will play her namesake character, a Korean resident advisor in charge of the dorm. Shin Hyeon-seung will play Jamie, a mysterious newcomer harboring a secret.
Two K-pop stars, Choi Young-jae of the boy band GOT7 and Minnie of the girl group (G)I-DLE are also the part of ‘So Not Worth It’ cast. While Young-jae will play Sam, a son of the CEO of a global food chain based in Australia, Minnie who makes her acting debut will play the role of a student from Thailand with K-drama fever.
The model-turned actor Han Hyun-min will play his namesake character, the unfortunate Korean student who is eager to live in the dorm as he has to commute for long hours every day.
‘So Not Worth It’ will supposedly reinvigorate the love for Korean sitcoms amongst the audience with its fresh take on the subject and the industry legends putting their weight behind it. This latest Korean original on Netflix will be produced by Mystic Story.
‘So Not Worth It’ will release globally on Netflix, thought the release dates are yet to be announced.
