Warner Bros has gone the extra mile to drop The Flash in the theatres. Apart from bestowing Scarlet Speedster’s first solo movie, the studio is also looking to reboot the entire DCEU franchise with the events of upcoming Andy Muschietti’s directional project. Barry utilises Speed Force to run back in time to prevent his mother’s death only to create multiple new alternate timelines. However, the DCEU’s on-screen Flash, Ezra Miller, has put WB in dire straits. The actor’s long list of recent controversies has become quite a problem for the studio. How does this scenario deteriorate the DCEU for good? Let’s find out!
In March this year, Ezra Miller‘s physical altercation with some Hawaiian people got him arrested. Then, he was charged with second-degree assault after attacking a woman with a chair next month. Additionally, his relationship with Tokata Iron Eyes has garnered a strong backlash from people as the latter is only 18 years old. She was a minor at the beginning of her relationship with Miller. To make things worse, the actor received a harassment prevention order from a mother and her 12-year-old son some days ago. According to the mother, Miller dropped a surprise visit at her house wearing a bulletproof jacket with a gun in his hands. Soon, he started scaring her boy and tried touching him inappropriately.
David Zaslav, Warner Bros Discovery CEO, wanted to take the DCEU to MCU’s heights. But Miller’s controversies have made things difficult for Zaslav. Plus, there’s no denying that The Flash would have functioned as a new slate for the DCEU franchise. Also, Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck have reprised their roles of The Caped Crusaders in this one. Furthermore, the movie has a gigantic budget of $200 million. If we wrap all these things, it is safe to say that WB has a lengthy list of incurable headaches these days.
The latest reports have affirmed that WB has broken all ties with Ezra Miller. He may not appear in future DCEU projects. An insider from WB Discovery has revealed that the studio wants to keep this scandal under the radar till The Flash’s release. He further disclosed:
“There is no winning in this for Warner Bros. This is an inherited problem for Zaslav. The hope is that the scandal will remain at a low level before the movie is released, and hope for the best to turn out.”
Rumours regarding The Flash rebooting the entire DCEU franchise started surfacing the internet at the start of this year. WB Executives wanted to start everything from scratch with the help of Ezra Miller’s first solo superhero film. However, this scenario looks like nothing more than an unachievable dream in present times. Although, the studio has not yet postponed or cancelled the film’s release. So, we can expect The Flash to hit the theatres on June 23. Stay tuned for more updates.
