We at Binged had earlier informed our readers that filmmaker Vipul Amrutlal Shah plans to turn his popular film franchise ‘Commando’ into a streaming series for streaming giant, Disney Plus Hotstar. Well, now that plan is close to fruition. This afternoon, Disney Plus Hotstar dropped the first teaser for its ‘Commando‘ series, along with giving audiences their first look at the lead star of the series.
After three hit films in Bollywood, the popular film franchise ‘Commando’ will now make its way to the small screen, albeit without its USP, action star, Vidyut Jammwal. The popular actor’s place will be taken by debutant actor Prem Parrijaa, who’ll be seen as the titular commando in the Disney Plus Hotstar series. Prem Parrijaa’s commando character is called Virat in the series.
No sooner was the first teaser for ‘Commando’ dropped on Disney Plus Hotstar’s social media handles than displeased fans of the movie series flooded Twitter and YouTube with negative comments. Several fans lamented the absence of Vidyut Jammwal in the Commando series, while others expressed their disappointment. Yet other fans outright rejected Prem Parrijaa as the new Commando, writing vehemently “no Vidyut, no Commando”, and more comments along the same lines.
Most fans of the Commando film series were thankful that actress Adah Sharma is a part of the Commando series. The actress was part of the Commando 2 and Commando 3 movies. Fans are happy that the Commando series will have at least one element from the Commando universe, in the form of the actress.
Disney Plus Hotstar’s Commando series is produced, directed and created by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, under his Sunshine Pictures Pvt Ltd. banner. This will be Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s second series for Disney Plus Hotstar, after the well-received ‘Human’.
Besides Prem Parrijaa and Adah Sharma, the Commando series stars Vaibhav Tatwawadi, Shreya Singh Chaudhry, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Amit Sial and Ishteyak Khan in pivotal roles.
