Japanese animator, filmmaker, and manga artist Hayao Miyazaki has attained international acclaim as a masterful storyteller and creator of Japanese animated feature films. A founder of the highly appreciated Studio Ghibli, Miyazaki, an Academy Award winner is also widely regarded as one of the most accomplished filmmakers in the history of animation.
Having delivered some of the biggest animated features of all time like ‘Spirited Away’, ‘My Neighbor Totoro’, ‘Howl’s Moving Castle’, and numerous more, Miyazaki’s ‘The Boy and The Heron’ bagged a historic win at the 2024 Oscars when it won the statuette for the ‘Best Animated Feature’. The win was considered even more special as the director spent about 7 years working on it.
As for now, fans of the Studio Ghibli genre, rejoice! Miyazaki is officially working on a new project! While no details about the project have been made public yet, it was described as “an action-adventure-type movie, nostalgic and reminiscent of the old days”.
This keeps in tandem with his usual storytelling methods of combining nostalgic elements with modern ones to make them appeal to an ever-broadening group of viewers.
