Disney, by capturing the streaming rights for Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, managed to execute the twist of the century, but the fans aren’t really happy. No, their love for Swift isn’t going downhill; there is no chance of this happening in the real world.
So, why are people hating the Eras Tour being on Disney?
On a surface level, in the modern era, cancel culture is becoming a crucial part of the internet ecosystem. But the reason behind the fans canceling the streaming is not based on an internet habit but on a more humanistic approach.
Now, America does possess a very different capability, and that is to engage themselves with every ongoing global issue. And this did create a major stir as the stars took sides, and that reflected into the bias of Hollywood.
People who didn’t align with the majority did get fired or entered a blacklist, which means they got associated with fewer projects. And as a backlash, now Disney finds themselves on the receiving end of such treatments.
On Twitter (X), the fans showcased their rage and were very concerned about Disney’s stance in the Israel-Palestine conflict.
Fans said that they are really disappointed that the film will be streaming on Disney+. They are not only talking about boycotting the film but also spreading the threat of pirating it.
Even some non-fan communities are questioning the integrity of the Swifties as they were simply avoiding the Disney content regarding their geopolitical standpoint.
Only time will tell if Disney plays a masterstroke or if they find themselves deep in the mud. But till then, the drama is definitely real. But again, like most internet fights, the question remains: will it be executed in reality?
since the eras tour film is going to be on disney+ and percy jackson has been renewed for a season two, i am begging y'all to PLEASE boycott disney which is actively funding a genocide in palestine.
