The world as we know is coming undone. An individual intoxicated with power is pulling our world apart with hate. A team fighting him against all odds. People turning back on their own kind. No, this is not a description of the current geo-political scenario of our world and no, you have not landed on a political news website. This is the plot of the latest installment of the Fantastic Beast franchise which is evident from the much awaited second trailer of Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.
The trailer was originally scheduled to be released on the 24th of February but was delayed. No official reason was provided for the delay. However, it was widely believed that it may have been due to the uncanny resemblance of the plot with the ongoing Russia – Ukraine crisis.
The trailer consists of footage already revealed in the first trailer released months ago in addition to some new scenes from the movie. The imminent return to Hogwarts is teased further. But the most significant clip which has excited fans is a glimpse of a duel between the two most powerful wizards of their time – Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald. The final duel between them happens in 1945, against the backdrop of World War II. However, with this being the third in a five-movie series, the duel in this movie is not expected to be the final one. It is most likely to be shown in the final part of the series.
Apart from Jude Law (Dumbledore) and Mads Mikkelsen (Gellert Grindelwald), the cast includes Eddie Redmayne (Newt Scamander), Ezra Miller (Aurelius Dumbledore), Dan Fogler (Jacob Kowalski) and Alison Sudol (Queenie Goldstein) among others. The trailer also shows Theseus Scamander (Callum Turner), older brother of Newt Scamander, falling with one hand outstretched holding on to a hand of another character. Towards the end of the trailer, we see a phoenix (Fawkes, Dumbledore’s phoenix from the Harry Potter franchise) flying away with Dumbledore behind in the same frame.
The makers have also released a new poster for the upcoming movie. The movie is scheduled to release on 08th April 2022 in the UK. For most other markets, including US and India, the movie is scheduled to release a week later – on 15th April 2022. In India, apart from English, the movie is set to be released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu as well. The Fantastic Beasts series is a prequel to the widely famous Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. Screenplay of this movie is written by J.K. Rowling and Steve Loves.
Just like Newt Scamander in the movie, Wizarding World fans will hope better sense prevails across the world and ‘those who have made mistakes, try to make things right’. Check out the trailer below:
