Fantastic Four: Add More Drama to Your Lockdown Watchlist

The lockdown is a blessing in disguise for entertainment enthusiasts across the world. However, the abundance of the content available across multiple platforms apart from a plethora of recommendations from the near and dear complicate viewing choices. However, trust your favourite portal Binged.com to come up with a list comprising 4 shows/movies that could add variety to your viewing playlist.

The Raikar Case

Platform: Voot Select

This show, essentially a family drama reminds you of many Abbas-Mustan thrillers from the 90s and the late 2000s. This is a universe where no one shall be trusted. A murder of a youngster reveals the cracks within an influential family that has been quite meticulous in building its image in the public space. Though not the best in terms of a storyline, the show keeps you mostly invested in the proceedings. Don’t expect too much and you may be in for a surprise.

Freud

Platform: Netflix

Freud isn’t the quintessential show that takes you through the life of the father of psychiatry. The storyline is fresh, given it only examines the early part of his career when the world wasn’t quite ready to accept his genius yet. Here, the legend becomes a Sherlock-like figure in the middle of a convoluted political conspiracy. The show’s visual flavour is extremely compelling though it can get painfully indulgent at times too. This mix of fiction of fact and fiction is a stormy one that can take you for a trippy ride.

Dharala Prabhu

Platform: Amazon Prime Video

In one of the rarest remakes that rises above the impact of an original, Dharala Prabhu, the Tamil adaptation of Shoojit Sircar’s Vicky Donor, does a fine job in keeping the viewer entertained. The director Krishna Marimuthu makes a bunch of terrific tweaks in the narrative that gives a deeper meaning to sperm donation and treats its protagonist as a life-giver. Tanya Hope and Harish Kalyan make for a vibrant, chirpy on-screen pair in this well-made, clean family entertainer.

Ek Doctor Ki Maut

Platform: MUBI

Master storyteller Tapan Sinha crafts this superb drama, a 1990 release, that discusses how originality is often ridiculed and suppressed. Here the protagonist, Dr Roy played by Pankaj Kapoor ends up discovering a vaccine for leprosy only to be an object of ridicule in front of his superiors in the health ministry. The doctor unable to handle the rejection and suppression he has to face, even contemplates suicide. Shabana Azmi pitches in with an impressive performance in a film inspired by true incidents.
