The makers of the highly anticipated film ‘Shershaah’, which is a biopic of Captain Vikram Batra, earlier today unveiled another magnificent poster of the film. The poster epitomizes the unadulterated courage of one of the martyred heroes of the Kargil War – Captain Vikram Batra. In the poster, Siddhartha Malhotra, who essays the role of the brave Indian Army officer is seen dragging an injured officer to a safety zone.
There are a few aspects about the movie ‘Shershaah’ that some of you might not be aware of. The first important fact is that Siddhartha Malhotra is apparently not the first actor who has played the role of the Param Vir Chakra Awardee Captain Vikram Batra. Because in the 2003 war film ‘LOC: Kargil’ based on the Kargil War and helmed by J.P. Dutta, Abhishek Bachchan had played the part of Captain Batra.
Secondly, not many people might know that Captain Vikram Batra was the elder of his twin brother Vishal Batra. Meaning thereby that Siddhartha Malhotra (for the first time in his career) will be seen in a double role. He will be playing the roles of the twin brothers Vikram Batra and Vishal Batra in ‘Shershaah’.
‘Shershaah’ has been written for the screen by Sandeep Shrivastava, who had previously lent his writing talents for the acclaimed web series ‘Aarya’, Kabir Khan’s ‘New York’, and Shimit Amin’s cop drama ‘Ab Tak Chappan’.
Furthermore, in a real-life incident, Captain Batra visited a local café in his beautiful hometown Palampur. He had once told his future fiancée Dimple Cheena that “I’ll either come back after raising the Indian flag in victory or return wrapped in it. But I’ll come back for sure.” This was in the year 1999. Such was Captain Batra’s incredible courage and patriotism that is the hallmark of the Indian Army. In the film ‘Shershaah’, the role of Dimple Cheena, his fiancée, has been essayed by Kiara Advani.
‘Shershaah’ is expected to start streaming on the Amazon Prime Video platform from 12th August 2021 onwards. The patriotic film’s release coincides with India’s Independence Day weekend. The viewers can’t wait to witness the Indian Army’s bravery and Captain Batra’s inspiring story come to life on screen.
