A couple of keenly-awaited films announced their theatrical release dates in anticipation of theatres reopening across India. The buzzing ‘Fast And Furious 9‘, or simply ‘F9’ was one of those. Universal Pictures, producers of Fast 9, had set August 19 as its theatrical release date in India.
But seems like they got their calculations wrong. Several state governments aren’t ready to lift lockdown restrictions yet. As a result, theatres haven’t reopened completely in major markets in the country, Mumbai being one of them. Mumbai, as everyone knows, contributes a major chunk of box office collections, especially for foreign films. Rather than risk releasing the film when theatres still aren’t operational fully, Universal Pictures has decided to postpone the Fast And Furious 9 release date in India.
The ninth instalment in the Fast and Furious franchise, Fast9, will therefore now be released in cinemas on 3rd September, 2021. The film will be released in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada languages.
With Fast and Furious 9, The Fast family is back for more high-octane thrills and insane vehicular madness, all wrapped up with colourful characters and exotic locations from around the world. In the upcoming film, we see Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto and Michelle Rodriguez’s Letty are content with a quiet family life completely off the grid with young Brian. Until that is, they get drawn back into a world filled with danger and action, this time facing a dangerous threat, one that resurfaces old wounds for Dom in particular.
Fast and Furious 9 is directed by Justin Lin, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Daniel Casey. Besides Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Jordana Brewster, Chris Bridges (aka Ludacris), Nathalie Emmanuel, Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron will reprise their roles. John Cena, Cardi B and Ozuna are the new faces in the star-studded line-up.
