Five years after Fawad Khan disappeared from the Indian entertainment space, the hunky Pakistani actor is finally set to return to Indian screens. Homegrown Indian OTT platform ZEE5 has commissioned a new show from Pakistani creators for its ‘Zindagi’ brand of content, with Fawad Khan as the lead. Fawad Khan had last appeared in Karan Johar’s Aae Dil Hai Mushkil, before political issues drove him away from Indian shores. That was five years ago. Before that, Fawad Khan had played the lead in Sonam Kapoor starrer, Khubsurat, and the parallel lead in Kapoor And Sons.
The just announced ZEE5 show will be directed by distinguished Pakistani filmmaker Asim Abbasi. Abbasi had earlier created the well-appreciated show ‘Churails’ for ZEE5’s Zindagi. He is also the talent behind the terrific film ‘Cake’. Cake was Pakistan’s official entry for the Best International Feature Film Award at the 91st Oscar Awards. Churails received rave reviews from viewers and critics in India, and also across the border.
The upcoming ZEE5 show is a drama with elements of mystery, fantasy and the supernatural, set in the backdrop of a family reunion. Fawad Khan will play a single parent to a son in the show. His Zindagi Gulzar Hai co-star Sanam Saeed is also on board as the female lead. The show has reportedly already gone on the floors, and will premiere on ZEE5 in the first half of 2022.
Fawad Khan had earlier earned name and fame with his lead act in the superhit Pakistani show ‘Zindagi Gulzar Hai’. That show had aired in India on the erstwhile ZEE Zindagi channel on TV.
