The helmer of the Evil Dead remake, Fede Alvarez, has added four new faces to the cast of his upcoming Alien movie, titled Alien: Romulus. And the filming will commence next week in Budapest.
Cailee Spaeny was cast as the protagonist for the ninth Alien instalment some time ago. Now, she has the support of Archie Renaux, David Jonsson, Aileen Wu, and Spike Fearn. Will any of them survive? Or will we see Xenomorphs bursting out of their chests in the upcoming 20th Century Studios’ production? We have to wait till the release of the film.
Plot details about Alvarez’s Alien project are currently in a cryo chamber. But more things will get revealed now that the production is about to start. According to several reports, the forthcoming film will revolve around a group of young people who visit a foreign planet only to become the victims of Xenomorphs. What makes this project different is that it will not have the militaristic settings like the previous Alien films. Instead, the survivors here are young and inexperienced. And they will come up with unique ways to keep Xenomorphs away from them.
The leading lady, Cailee Spaeny, got her first major breakthrough in Pacific Rim: Uprising. After that, she appeared in films like ‘Bad Times at the El Royale’, ‘On the Basis of Sex’, ‘Vice’, and many more. She was recently cast as Priscilla Presley in Sofia Coppola’s upcoming biography of the same character, opposite Jacob Elordi, who will play Elvis Presley.
Fede Alvarez’s Alien: Romulus will release next year in theatres. Legendary filmmaker Ridley Scott will serve as its leading producer, with Alvarez and Rodo Sayagues roped in as the film’s scribes. Stay tuned for more updates.
