The customers are happy because they can get quality content at relatively cheaper rates. Filim is another recent venture which has cropped up in the OTT industry.
Filim is a platform that is owned by a bunch of young entrepreneurs and is dedicated to Telugu content following in the footsteps of ‘Aha’. The covid pandemic and subsequent lockdown have hit every industry hard, but ‘Necessity is the mother of invention’ and thus one can see the birth of many such regional-based digital platforms.
To make a significant impact and garner a few eyeballs they have even announced the arrival of the Vijay Sethupati starrer Pizza 2 on their digital platform. The film which stars Vijay Sethupati and Gayathrie Shankarin in the lead roles is a musical thriller and was well received by the audience though some had mixed opinions about it.
Filim is looking to exploit this fan following of the star to gain some traction as it is all set to release or you could say re-release on their platform on 1st November. Filim being in its infancy, not much is known about it, but it looks like an audacious attempt, especially with the crowded market that is present right now.
That being said, all they need is a breakthrough, and they may well be on their way to something special, but until that happens, the struggles are very much real for them as it is for every other regional platform trying to compete with the likes of the big guns.
