Filmfare OTT Awards Return In A Bigger Avatar!

OTT entertainment is here to stay. Some are even of the opinion that it is the future of entertainment. The past couple of years have seen an explosion of OTT content in India, a testimony of the growing influence of streaming in popular culture. Filmfare Awards, the pioneering film awards event and the equivalent of the Oscars in India, are the first to acknowledge the significance of OTT content. Just like they did in the world of cinema, Filmfare Awards have pioneered the first full-fledged OTT Awards in the Indian OTT space.

Last year saw the first edition of the Filmfare OTT Awards, which endeavoured to recognise and reward creativity and innovation in the field of Indian OTT content, along with its creators and performers. Well, entertainment enthusiasts will be happy to know that the Filmfare OTT Awards are back this year, and in a bigger avatar than its inaugural edition.

As the Black Lady navigates through a whole new universe in its quest to recognize the best talent in OTT, Filmfare commences the second edition of Filmfare OTT Awards 2021 in association with MyGlamm, India’s fastest growing direct-to-consumer beauty brand, as the title partner. Having lauded and recognized cinematic brilliance of the mainstream film industry with the prestigious Filmfare Awards for over six decades, the launch of the second edition sees the brand take forward its legacy into the digital entertainment space.

MyGlamm Filmfare OTT Awards 2021 welcomes Hindi web original shows and films released between August 1, 2020, to July 31, 2021. This year, the awards platform is also inviting participation from production houses. However, the entries from production houses will be subject to a veto from the respective streaming platforms.

Deepak Lamba, the CEO of Worldwide Media, said, “For over six decades, Filmfare Awards have been celebrating the ingenious artistry in the Indian entertainment ecosystem. It was a natural progression to expand the horizon and felicitate some of the stellar work in the Indian OTT space, which is growing at almost 30% annually. The inaugural edition of Filmfare OTT Awards was a resounding success, and this year our objective is to ensure we unearth and acknowledge a layer of talent including the ones who continue to weave their magic behind-the-scenes.”

Jitesh Pillaai, Editor, Filmfare added, “Good stories attract great viewership – this is the thumb rule in the world of media and entertainment. In the last twelve months, OTT platforms have served us with a stunning line-up of exceptional content, from literary adaptations to Indian science-fiction and untold biopics to anthologies, there was something for everyone. So, the competition this year is going to be very tough – the jury and I will be looking forward to see who all walk away with the Black Lady.”
