Films Day 2022 At Netflix: Here’s All That’s Coming To Netflix India

Netflix has unveiled its upcoming Indian content slate with #HarDinFilmy that stands quite true to its name. The coming months on Netflix are going to be full of new Indian releases such as ‘The Archies’, ‘Monica, O My Darling’, ‘Plan A, Plan B’ and many more.

These latest reveals by Netflix include first looks, teasers, conversations with the makers, behind the scenes and much more. The first title amongst these announcements is Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti’s ‘The Archies’ where the former was seen in conversation with John Goldwater, the CEO of Archie Comics.

They talk about Archies origin and how the Indian adaptation is set in the Anglo-Indian community of India in the 1960s in a magical fictional hill station town. They also tell how the film is based on the theme of love, friendship,, conflict and community and how music plays a big part in the film. ‘The Archies’ stars Mihir Ahuja, Dot, Khushi Kapoor, Suhana Khan, Yuvraj Menda, Agastya Nanda and Vedang Raina in key roles.

Next up is glimpses of the lead stars of Netflix’s whodunnit comedy-thriller ‘Monica, O My Darling’. The latest stills from the film show Rajkumar Rao in a tense look, Huma Qureshi all glamorous in a red dress and shiny blue heels and Radhika Apte in a casual happy mood.

Directed by Vasan Bala and produced by Matchbox Shots, black comedy and white-collar crime collide in ‘Monica, O My Darling’ in which a young man desperately tries to make it big with some unlikely allies and a dastardly diabolical plan to pull off the perfect murder.

The line up continues with the teaser of ‘Plan A, Plan B’. A quirky coming of age romance drama starring Riteish Deshmukh, Tamannaah Bhatia, Poonam Dhillon and Kusha Kapila, ‘Plan A, Plan B’ follows the story of a matchmaker Nirali Vora (Tamannaah Bhatia) who believes marriage is for everyone, except herself and Kaustubh Chougule (Riteish Deshmukh) a successful divorce lawyer with a secret.

The film is all about what happens when they cross paths and these opposites fall in love. Where will their love story lead them or will their ideologies come in way? Written by Rajat Arora and directed by Shashanka Ghosh, ‘Plan A, Plan B’ is produced by India Stories Media & Entertainment and Funk Your Blues Entertainment. ‘Plan A, Plan B’ will premiere exclusively on Netflix on 30th September, 2022.

Netflix then went on to reveal some intense behind the scene glimpses of its latest title ‘Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga’ starring Yami Gautam and Sunny Kaushal. The thriller drama coming soon to Netflix is directed by Ajay Singh, written by Siraj Ahmed and Trishant Srivastava and produced by Dinesh Vijan under his Maddock Films banner.

Then there’s Vishal Bhardwaj’s mystery thriller ‘Khufiya’ whose first look makes you keep looking for more. The video with ominous background music and first look of the characters from the film sends chills down the spine.

Inspired by true events and based on an espionage novel ‘Escape to Nowhere’ by Amar Bhushan, ‘Khufiya’ is a story about Krishna Mehra, a R&AW operative who is assigned to track down the mole selling India’s defence secrets. All along, grappling with her dual identity of a spy and a lover. The film stars Tabu, Ali Fazal, Wamiqa Gabbi and Ashish Vidyarthi in pivotal roles.

Next in line is Sanya Malhotra and Anant Joshi starrer ‘Kathal’. This woman-led dramedy, set in a small town, revolves around a local politician whose prized jackfruits (Kathals) go missing and a young police officer- Mahima, played by Sanya Malhotra, who is adamant to solve this bizarre case to prove herself.

‘Kathal’ is the directorial debut of Yashowardhan Mishra, who has also written the film along with the veteran, award winning writer Ashok Mishra. The film is produced by Guneet Monga, Ekta Kapoor, Achin Jain and Shobha Kapoor. Sikhya Entertainment and Balaji Telefilms Ltd. have collaborated for this female forward film.

Netflix then takes you behind the scenes of Anushka Sharma’s ‘Chakda ‘Xpress’ where director Prosit Roy talks about Jhulan Goswami’s journey from the small town of Chakda to World Cup finals. The video shows Anushka bringing to screens the raw energy of Jhulan while trying tobe as honest as possible with the story.

Karnesh Sharma via his Clean Slate Filmz is bankrolling ‘Chakda ‘Xpress’ set to premiere soon exclusively on Netflix.

Netflix then offers a sneak peak into ‘Qala’ that marks Irrfan Khan’s son Babil Khan’s acting debut is their next project with the streaming giant. As per director Anvitaa Dutt,‘Qala’ is a beautiful, heart-breaking story about a daughter who craves her mother’s love. In addition to Babil, the film stars Tripti Dimri, Swastika Mukherjee, Amit Sial and Samir Kochhar among others.

Here’s the overall glimpse of Netflix’s Films Day 2022
