Every now and then we come across this problem on Netflix India they focus only and only on Hindi content. It has a significant share of subscribers even in the Southern states but the focus lies only on the Hindi original. Talking about the other languages, it just throws up licensed films from Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam every now and then.
But it looks like this year is different. They have actually shared a film’s teaser which is in Tamil. Good for the platform, it is not a licensed film but a proper original.
This movie is called “Test”. Test as in Test Cricket context. It stars three very popular figures from the Tamil industry, namely Siddharth, Nayanthara and R Madhavan.
The trio will be seen in a film where Siddharth is a cricketer.
It is a really interesting concept and the stakes are significantly high. The three are popular names and it is a sort of baby step into the Tamil originals of the platform. Keeping Navrasa aside, there has been little to no work in exploring the stories from Tamil Nadu and this film might change that.
