One of the most important Tamil films of this year has to be R.S. Durai Senthilkumar directed Garudan. The movie stars Soori, M. Sasikumar and Unni Mukundan in the lead roles. The movie released on the 31st of May this year opened to a positive response from both critics and audiences. So much so that it earned more than double its budget and grossed over 50 crores.
So what is the story all about?
In Kombai, a town in the Theni district of southern Tamil Nadu, Karunakaran “Karuna” and Aadhithya “Aadhi” forge a deep friendship born from shared trauma. Together, they exert considerable influence over the town’s temple and its surrounding activities. Among them is Sokkan, Karuna’s fiercely loyal protector, who doesn’t allow anyone, not even the well-meaning Aadhithya, to approach Karuna. When one friend makes a dramatic shift in their actions, it sets off a chain of betrayal, rage, and inevitable conflict, leading to a tale brimming with action and intensity.
