It was with much fanfare that Netflix had announced the premiere date for heart warming Marathi sports drama film ‘Habaddi’ on its platform. The film was to stream on Netflix on July 18. But July 18 came and went, but there was no sign of Habaddi on Netflix. Like always, Netflix did not even care to inform its subscribers about the no-show of Habaddi, let alone share a new release date for the film.
However, now we’ve got you confirmed information on when Habaddi will finally stream on Netflix. The much-awaited Marathi film will begin streaming on Netflix India on August 1, nearly two weeks after it was first supposed to premiere on the platform.
Habaddi is a Marathi sports drama film, written and directed by Nachiket Samant. It is a classic underdog story of an orphan, Manya, with a speech impediment, who is the subject of taunts and teasing from those around him. A chance run-in with the game of Kabaddi helps the young boy to find meaning and purpose to his life. It also gives the lad a chance to impress the girl he likes. But will Manya be able to chant ‘Kabaddi, Kabaddi’ an essential part of the game, overcoming his speech impediment which had always held him back until now?
Habaddi is produced by Yoodlee Films. The film is written and directed by Nachiket Samant, and co-written by Yogesh Joshi. It stars Karan Dave as Manya, alongside Vedashree Mahajan, Mayur Khandge and Rupesh Bane.
