Malayalam film ‘EMI‘ has finally been picked up by a streaming platform for its OTT release, and has now got a confirmed OTT release date. The social drama film will premiere on exclusive Malayalam OTT platform Saina Play this week, on Friday, 10th February.
‘EMI’ released in theatres long ago, on 1st July, 2022. And even more than six months after its theatrical release, the film didn’t find its way to a streaming platform — this despite the fact that ‘EMI’ garnered great reviews from critics and audiences. The film has a 9.2 rating on IMDb, though only from 500+ viewers. Just goes to show that smaller films find few viewers in theatres. But now ‘EMI’ is finally arriving on streaming this Friday itself.
The well-received film is directed by Jobi John, and produced by Ligi Jobi. It stars Rony David, Veena Nair, Manju Pathrose, along with Yami Sona, Sunil Sukhada, Shayi Shanker, Sijo Varghese, Maaliyekkal Thampiin, among others. ‘EMI’ is a movie that Jobi John has wanted to make since years, and has now come to fruition. The movie sheds light on the lives of Malayalees who have no qualms in taking loans even for small things.
